Getz Healthcare, in close collaboration with INSIGHTEC, extends heartfelt congratulations to the dedicated team at St Vincent's Private & Public Hospitals Sydney for reaching a significant milestone - 200 MR-Guided Focused Ultrasound treatments.
As the first centre in Australia to establish this innovative technology, Dr. Yael Barnett, Dr. Benjamin Jonker, and A/Prof. Stephen Tisch have played a pivotal role in advancing care for individuals living with movement disorders. Their patient-centred approach and commitment and delivering globally recognised clinical research continue to shape the landscape of neurological care.
What Is MR-Guided Focused Ultrasound?
MR-Guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) is a non-invasive treatment for Essential Tremor, Tremor Dominant Parkinson’s disease and Neuropathic Pain that uses high-intensity ultrasound waves, guided by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), to precisely target specific areas deep in the brain. This technique allows for treatment without the need for incisions, implants or radiation, offering an alternative approach for eligible patients.
St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney has been at the forefront of integrating this technology into clinical practice, providing access to new treatment options for individuals seeking non-invasive interventions.
